Synopsis

Shadi, militant palestinien de trente ans devenu citoyen français, retourne dans son village de Cisjordanie pour des vacances avec l’espoir de s’y réinstaller. Au fil des jours, il doit faire face aux attentes de son entourage. Sa mère veut le marier dans le village et son frère, ancien prisonnier politique, semble avoir des comptes à régler avec lui… Alors que la colonie israélienne située sur la colline d’en face étouffe le village et attire la main d’œuvre palestinienne vers ses chantiers, le retour de Shadi se transforme en désillusion…

Shadi, a thirty-year-old Palestinian activist who has become a French citizen, returns to his village in the West Bank for a holiday in the hope of resettling there. As the days go by, he has to face up to the expectations of those around him. His mother wants him to get married in the village and his brother, a former political prisoner, seems to have a score to settle with him… As the Israeli settlement on the hill opposite chokes the village and attracts Palestinian labour to its construction sites, Shadi’s return turns into disillusionment…
