Synopsis

In the winter of 2019, to overcome my paternal grief, I filmed the compulsory hospitalisation of my son Nathan, on the threshold of his uncertain entry into adulthood. From the very first visits, and above all because of their sometimes hostile or simply empty nature, I decided to film short sequences of thirty seconds, sometimes more, sometimes a minute, using my pocket phone. At the same time, I was taking the edge off – when Nathan was asleep – and at the same time giving myself a sense of composure – when his hostility was chasing me down the corridors or, on the contrary, fleeing from me. I wasn’t necessarily filming Nathan, by the way, but a lot of his environment. And the more I watched, the more I saw a world being invented.
