Synopsis

O Movimento das Coisas is not and does not pretend to be a mythical gesture, just as it is not and does not pretend to be an ethnographic or anthropological documentary. You’ll notice that the village where the film takes place is never named. Lanheses is a name that only appears in the final credits, in the author’s acknowledgements. Any Portuguese person will identify the village, placing it in the north of Portugal, but the geographical imprecision, or vagueness, to use a more appropriate term, exists from the very beginning of the film. We’re not sure where we are and we’ll never know why the director took us there.” João Bénard da Costa
